Cultural initiatives of the Fund
The valorisation of the movable cultural heritage by the InBev-Baillet Latour Fund is not limited to the restoration of masterpieces from our national collections. It is also inspired by the wish to open up access to a part of our heritage that is confined to discretion by material contingencies. 2008-2010 New Art Nouveau and Art Deco rooms at the Cinquantenaire Bruxelles, Royal Museums of Art and History - € 1,500,000 Although they have been the subject of a selective purchasing policy since 1984, the collections devoted to the decorative arts of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements are only rarely presented to the public, barring a few temporary exhibitions. The Royal Museums of Art and History do, however, possess a number of exceptional works, among which the sculptures commissioned on the occasion of the Tervuren colonial exhibition in 1897 take pride of place. As from 2010, Art Nouveau and Art Deco will be on display in new rooms for all to enjoy. For the alteration and renovation of the different rooms, the InBev-Baillet Latour Fund grants € 1.5 million to the Royal Museums of Art and History. The financing is spread over a period of five years with an annual support of € 300,000 as from 2008. In 2010, three Art Nouveau rooms will be inaugurated, followed two years later by the fourth Art Nouveau room and the two Art Deco rooms. With this substantial support, the Fund hopes to contribute to the revelation of a valuable national heritage to the Belgian and international public.
